We do not recommend self-migrating and moving your own files. Because OCIO has amassed resources specifically for this project, we have more "horsepower" to bring to the process. You can delete anything you no longer need and do not want to be moved to OneDrive. We encourage users to open their U: drives and evaluate the contents. OneDrive for Business has a limit of 5TB of data so we will work with the limited use cases that have this amount of data or more in their U: drives on a case-by-case basis. We will be contacting departments to schedule time to migrate individual U: drives and all the files contained in them to OneDrive. The exact dates of migration for individuals that have files in their U: drive have not yet been determined. We will announce these dates once they are set. This means U: drives that are currently empty (employees don’t have any stored files) will be removed from devices. Retire Empty U: Drives: Tuesday, November 30Įmpty U: drives will be retired and inaccessible beginning Tuesday, November, 30. For more information on where to store files visit the MITS file storage page. U: drives will not be created for new employees onboarding beginning Friday, October 29. New employees should use OneDrive for individual file storage and technicians deploying their devices will go over access to OneDrive with new employees. Timeline No new U: Drive creation: Friday, October 29 In advance of migration, users impacted will receive communications with dates and resources specific to the migration. We will work with departmental leaders to determine the best time for departments to migrate. Users will store files in OneDrive for Business moving forward. The Office of the Chief Information Officer is retiring individual U: drives and using a tool to migrate user data to OneDrive for Business. Our next step in this important journey to streamline our cloud storage solutions will include the retirement of the individual U: drive for Managed IT Services partners. Over the last year, we’ve continued to implement our Microsoft 365 Roadmap through the retirement of BuckeyeBox to provide all faculty, students and staff with tools and resources to effectively communicate and collaborate in a mobile and secure way.
